GOD+ART (DAY 27)

“Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! (John 12:27 NLT)

The best love note ever sent was Jesus. As we draw near to the season of remembering His birth, I am ever mindful that His deepest love was demonstrated on the cross.

He made up His mind to love us. Even though His soul cried out in anguish, He resolved to commit His life to His Father’s purposes.

Maybe, as Jesus wrestled with God’s will in the dark night of His soul, His own words spoken through the prophet Isaish comforted Him, infused His soul with courage:

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. (Isaiah 55:8 NLT)

In a book, I was reading today, the author mentioned that the original Hebrew for “ways” could be translated: “journey, path, course, manner, way of life”.

God has each one of us on a journey that He planned before we were born. And He sent His Son, Jesus, to lead us on the path of His choosing. His way of life is best. We can depend on Him to chart our course and show us in what manner to live our lives in light of His love.

Brother Lawrence experienced anguish of soul, too. Sometimes he doubted his salvation. And that’s when he would turn his soul back to the truth of GOD’s undisputable love.

“That it was impossible, not only that GOD should deceive, but also that He should long let a soul suffer which is perfectly resigned to Him, and resolved to endure everything for His sake.”

Can’t you just see Brother Lawrence thinking of his crucified and resurrected Lord and Savior?

God sees our suffering.

Will you resign yourself to His care? Will you resolve to accept His help to endure? Will you recall His purposes for your life?

What has GOD thought of that you can’t even imagine?

  1. This post was very encouraging to me, Kel! It’s so true that God has a plan for His sheep, and we can trust that because Jesus was God’s ultimate plan for us, and if He didn’t spare His own Son, what makes us think that He doesn’t care for us?

I love a dialogue. Be the first to start a discussion!
