Summer is for . . .Doing (and Being)!

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17 ESV)

As I close out the 30 Days of Lists series, I smile because today’s prompt is “My To-Do List.” An interesting prompt, as I wonder what to do in July. What shall I focus on? I found this little book (pictured above) for a quarter at a garage sale. A fun book to thumb through as I explore how to BE fifty!

What shall I do with myself now?

I have ideas, like start reading from my summer book list or start writing to the prompts from the two websites that I signed up for, and savor the Scriptures from the Virtual VBS.

But whatever I choose to do with the rest of my summer, I want to do it with the Lord Jesus as my teacher and guide. I am thankful that He is rekindling my appetite for His word, His presence and writing down my journey with Him in my journal.

I am thankful for lists, for prompts, for companions, for travel, for activity, for solitude, for silence, for music. I am thankful that I can BE still, as well as BE active.

I appreciate To-Do Lists that keep me on track, but I also like the practice of keeping a To-Be list. I have found that when I am true to my created self, reflecting the love and grace of Jesus to those around me, my To-Do list takes on a whole new level of joy and anticipation.

I notice myself living and breathing and moving by the prompts of the Holy Spirit dwelling within.

Thanks for joining me on this 30 Days of Lists! I am going to take a few days off, and will be back to let you know how I’m DOing soon!

BE . . . enjoying your summer!

What’s on your To-Do List? Have you ever considered keeping a To-Be List?

  1. Last night, I read in your book about the ‘to be’ list, I loved the ending and plan on sharing the thought with my friends. William Shakespeare asked the question, “To be or not to be, that is the question,” I believe it is best to be, to be kind, loving, caring, and helpful.

    1. Cecelia- How timely! I am glad you are enjoying the book and sharing the idea of the “to-be” list…it was a life changing, defining moment for me.

I love a dialogue. Be the first to start a discussion!
